Kayla embarked on her professional art career in 2019, after deepening her study of painting through visual arts courses at the University of Alberta.

Her passion for landscape photography significantly influences her acrylic abstract works, where she explores color, pattern, and texture inspired by nature and architecture.

Her love for the outdoors is central to her creative process, often working with raw canvas while camping, which inspires her yearly #campcanvas series. Traveling with her family in their small trailer across Alberta and British Columbia, Kayla captures the essence of these landscapes and experiences in her spontaneous, evocative art. Embracing the thrill of unpredictability, she delights in the unique emergence of each piece, driven by the moment-to-moment inspiration drawn from her surroundings.
